Ross and retired San Francisco Ballet dancer Muriel Maffre will collaborate on a reinvention of Stravinsky’s 1918 Faustian antiwar fable “The Soldier’s Tale.” Workshopped at the troupe last year, this is genre-bending blend of music, dance and theater. It runs Nov. 11-Dec. 18. Arthur Schnitzler’s (“La Ronde”) tale of a fin-de-siecle Viennese gadabout “Anatol” (April 6-May 13, 2012); the Bay Area premiere of Annie Baker’s family drama “Body Awareness” (Jan. 27-March 4, 2012); and the world premiere of Mark Jackson’s “Salomania” (June 15-July 22, 2012), a sequel of sorts to Wilde’s “Salome,” will round out the eclectic five-show season. Ross commissioned this piece from Jackson (“The Death of Meyerhold”), who scored a huge hit with “Salome” at the Aurora back in 2006.

According to her company profile, Svanemyr graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University with degrees in anthropology, sociology, and ecotourism and recreation management. She was a lifelong dancer who once performed at the World Cup in South Korea as part of the professional African dance group Azagano. She was a practitioner of “Big Mind” meditation, a process that uses western psychological techniques and Buddhist teachings. She said her greatest joy and teacher is her daughter.
