“The cast is spectacular,” said Eric Carlson, an Alameda resident who plays a Harvard Law student in the show. “The whole production is so high-energy. It’s hard not to get swept up into it.”. Fellow Alamedan Ron Lew, who plays a Harvard admissions officer and several other roles, believes the Woodminster production is very catchy. “Our musical director says, ‘It’s like a speeding train. Once it starts, it keeps going and doesn’t stop!’ He’s right, and it’s a great show for kids, especially teenagers.”.

“It took me quite a while to think of the narrative perspective, which was really central to the idea. I ended up kind of writing two separate novels. I was trying to write the story of this family with all its problems. And I was simultaneously trying to write about a ghost that has inhabited these walls. It took me a while to realize that they are the same book.”. Having the two realms mingle was the key. “The ghost story alone was too confined. But the story of the family itself wasn’t special — stories of squabbling families who re-descend to their ancestral homes are a dime a dozen. And I couldn’t understand what the heart of the story was and why we were focusing on that particular family at that particular time. Having the two work together is what opened up the whole book.”.

The exhibit will feature eight large format aerial photographs from the Uccelli Collection showing the original construction of Pete’s Harbor. In the early 1950s, Pete Uccelli — a South San Francisco native and entrepreneur — noticed an upsurge in boating enthusiasts, and an inadequate number of berths available to accommodate the increasing number of privately owned boats. Because he couldn’t find a suitable local harbor for his own boat, he decided to provide a needed service to the local boating community, and also to the public on 20 acres of land bordering Redwood Creek and Smith Slough in Redwood City.
